My colleagues Ashkan Negahban (Penn State Great Valley) and Omar Ashour (Penn State Behrend) and I have recently received $831,276 NSF Grant (DGE #2000599) for our research on immersive simulation-based learning (I-SBL).
I will be the Co-PI on this 3-year research grant. We will be continuing our work on investigating the effect of I-SBL modules on student learning from various levels including 2-year, 4-year, and graduate education.
Our work involves the creation and use of 3D virtual-reality environments in engineering settings that immerse learners in simulation models. We have partnered with Simio to align these education modules with industry needs.
We are very excited for this opportunity from NSF and we hope to produce many publications out of this research. If you are interested in I-SBL modules and would like to integrate one of these learning modules to your classroom, please follow our Immersive Simulation PBL website.
